ICM’s Newsletter

John, to the seven churches in Asia: grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come.
(Rev 1:4)

Blessings from the ICM board and staff.

John isn’t writing this letter, and it goes out to people in more than seven churches. Yet we who follow in the footsteps of the apostles still bring Christ’s healing grace and peace to others. Who are the ICM/FHM people who currently are doing this? Probably you, for one. But often we’re asked what is happening with the ICM staff and board, past and present. This letter highlights a few of them and their message to you. (More profiles in a later letter).

Iris and Dave Beardemphl: Iris served as Program Director until 2000, at which time she and Dave retired. Iris says they’re traveling and enjoying their 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild She does spiritual direction, occasional talks at parishes, and prayer ministry with Sister Nancy Oman. Her message: ”I miss you all; I miss the ICM weekends and worship times. I hope you are using your wonderful gifts. I pray for you often.“

Betty Dameron: Betty is our Board Treasurer and Office Manager, the tireless servant of the Lord who answers questions when you phone us. Our ICM office is located in the CPA office of Betty and her daughter Pam, an arrangement for which we are continually grateful. Betty’s message to you echoes what we often hear from graduates: ”I utilize what I’ve learned in the ICM programs in every aspect of my life (especially in being a grandma).“

Jan Alkire: Jan is Board Vice President and spends her ICM time promoting Father Leo’s and her books and our programs. She also gives presentations on healing and spirituality in faith communities, at retreat centers and, twice now, on pilgrimage cruises. Jan’s husband is retired, so they enjoy traveling to places near and far. Her message: ”The Spirit is moving all over this land! Please stay open to opportunities to introduce people to our programs. Just contact the ICM office with any lead, and I’ll take it from there.“

An update on our ministry: God’s healing love is going out to faith communities through our newest program: Formation for Spiritual Companions. One group that recently completed it said they found it to be life-giving at personal levels, plus helpful for their relationships with others and with God. To promote the ministry of ICM through this program, we now have a four-page FSC brochure and a free DVD that includes one of the talks in the program. If you know someone who might benefit from this material, please let us know.

Needed: As always, we need prayers for ICM, for our programs, and for the groups who are using them. Your prayers are a treasure, and we value them greatly. We also value treasure we can put in a bank because, as you know, grace is free–everything else costs money. We pray God’s blessings upon you for your generosity to ICM and to others. As St. Paul said, ”God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.“ (2 Cor 9:8, NRSV).

Heartfelt thanks and blessings from the ICM Board of Directors
